"a superb service at the MIU"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital

(as the patient),

I went to the minor injuries unit at the Hallamshire Hospital in Sheffield this evening. I tore a muscle and did some self care on it. After a week it felt like it was getting worse not better. I was walking with great difficulty using a walking stick and some big bruises started appearing. I was worried that this was a sign of a problem. I was seen in 5 minutes by a really competent nurse who checked to see it wasnt anything more serious, told me what exercise might help, gave me some crutches because I'd been finding it hard to use the walking stick, gave me some pain killers and referred me for physio. I felt reassured that things were not really getting worse. The information that it would take a long time to heal stopped me worrying about the fact that a week had gone by without any sign of improvement. It was a great service.
