I first accessed Surestarts services as a new mum with post natal depression three years ago. Through them I recieved support through home visits in the early days and really appreciated having someone I could talk to.
As my confidence increased I regularly attended groups with my son and we both made new friends.
It was at these groups I was invited to join surestarts parents forum meetings, where we were asked our opinions on surestarts services, and other opportunities in the community. It was here I found out about becoming a volunteer for surestart.
I found out about the free nursery funding for two year olds which I would otherwise have missed and benefited my timid son greatly and I have accessed free courses for myself.
I am a regular volunteer and this has got me out of the house and have something to focus on.
Staff at the Centre are always welcoming, supportive and ready with advice if needed.
