"Recent A and E visit"

About: Royal Lancaster Infirmary

I took my daughter to the A and E department on Thursday, 12th Feb at approximately 4 pm. She was complaining of a very sore wrist having fallen the day before. I received a pleasant welcome from the receptionist at A and E, who was efficient, knowledgeable and attentive. I had a short wait of 15 minutes before we saw the doctor in the 'minors' department. The Doctor we saw had a very pleasant manner, especially with my ten year old daughter and she listened carefully whilst my daughter relayed the incident. After examination, the doctor explained what she suspected might be the diagnosis and sent my daughter for an X-ray to confirm her thoughts. The X-ray department had only a few people waiting and we were back in the minor injuries unit within 15 minutes. The X-rays confirmed the Doctors initial diagnosis and my daughter was plastered and out within the hour. I was particularly impressed to learn that the doctor who looked after us was still learning. She had a most confident, friendly and professional manner. I had presumed she had been a paediatric specialist for a while . Overall , I was extremely impressed by the treatment my daughter received and have just returned to the fracture clinic today to learn that the break is healing nicely.
