"Outstanding Care at Wishaw General Maternity and Neonatal Units"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Maternity Care (Wards 21-24)

(as the patient),

Both of our daughters were delivered under the care of the Consultants and the Med Obs team at Wishaw General Hospital due to my Type 1 diabetes.

With our first pregnancy Wishaw General was our local hospital and we were cared for by Dr McLellan and her team until our baby was delivered at 36 weeks. The care throughout this pregnancy was second to none. This outstanding level of care was then continued by the neonatal staff who looked after our daughter as she had blood sugar and feeding issues.

With our second pregnancy we had moved out of the area where Wishaw General would have been our local hospital but due to the care we had received first time, we asked for our antenatal care and delivery to be looked after by the Maternity Unit at Wishaw as we had complete trust that our care would again be second to none. Again we saw Dr McLellan for a few weeks at the start of our pregnancy and we were then cared for by Dr Malcolm. Our second pregnancy was not as straight forward as the first one. Each clinic appointment Dr Malcolm listened and helped both myself and my husband deal with the difficult weeks until delivery. Our second baby girl was delivered at 35 weeks and spent just over two weeks in the neonatal unit, just like her older sister.

I will never be able to articulate just how outstanding the care we received from the maternity staff and neonatal staff was throughout both pregnancies and deliveries.

I would never hesitate to recommend them to anyone considering choosing Wishaw General.

We will always be grateful to Dr Malcolm, Dr McLellan and the Neonatal Unit for the very happy and healthy family we now have.

Dear MJ 1215

Thank you for taking the time to post your lovely comments they are most appreciated and will be shared with all staff concerned and named in the post.

It is wonderful to hear that you had a happy experience in the Maternity and Neonatal Unit here at Wishaw General Hospital especially during what would have been at times stress full for both you and your family. This is the care we strive to deliver to all women and their families who attend the unit.

I hope you and both your children are doing well.

Kind Regards

Lyn
