"Pain management introduction I attended was poor"

About: St Peter's Hospital / Pain Management

(as the patient),

I don't understand why the Pain Management Introduction, presented by a psychologist, that I attended was so poor. Why were patients, who have been suffering for years and years, called in for a 3 hours session, and requested to be highly motivated with such a speech? The actual pain service takes place after 20 months (7-8 months for the assessment and 1 year waiting list for the treatment itself), so how can this service justify holding such a meeting? You have to be kidding to ask long suffering patients to keep their motivation high up for 20 months.....

Don't blame NHS, your service is responsible for calling the people. Why can't you wait for the waiting list to diminish and then have a proper schedule? I feel this is just another joke about the way that people's health is treated in this country; without respect.

In my opinion, the psychologist never considered for one minute our time and made us feel like we were wasting his. As one person said when he informed us without any solicitude, or concern, that by the time the service will be available, she might well be falling into pieces. I regret that I have spent the time going, to once again have had raised the hope that something might help me.
