"The maternity ward staff is a nightmare"

About: Newham General Hospital

The nurses/midwives in the maternity ward are bullies; and if you even politely stand up to them, they will really screw you. We had to stay in the hospital for 9 nights in the private room (70 gbp per night) so that my husband could stay with me because I was really scared after a nurse fought with me on the first night of my cesarian section. After my antibiotics course was completed (night 6), it took the midwife 3 days just to get one blood test of mine done - just because my husband asked her in a firm tone on night 7 why a blood sample hadnt been done after 8 hours of the doctor's order. Even though the staff got changed in the next shift, they kept sending subsequent samples for wrong tests instead of the one the doctor had ordered. In short, this hospital is extremely poorly managed, and a stay in the maternity department is a trip to hell. Avoid at all costs.
