"Meals were not improving my physical state"

About: Westmorland General Hospital / Langdale Unit

(as the patient),

I have been in hospital for several short breaks recently, the latest in July. I can’t help thinking that if the object of the Langdale Unit is to build people up to get them back home then the quality of food was not very good. The variety was very unimaginative and at times the jacket potato was the main choice which made it boring. One of the soups was interesting as the salt was often overdone. I have been in Barrow and Lancaster and the presentation varied which made it more interesting in some cases although the basic selection was the same and nowhere did I feel the meals were improving my physical state.

Thank you for your posting. I am very grateful to you for taking the time to feedback about the meals and the importance of good nutrition.

The quality of the food is something we continually try to improve and interestingly most of the comments that have been posted relating to food have been very positive. However, we do take very seriously any feedback where the experience could have been better.

I will feed back the concerns you have raised to our Catering Team and to our Dietician.

Thank you again for your feedback.

Best wishes,

Graeme
