"High standard of care but I needed more information about anaesthetic"

About: Royal Hallamshire Hospital / Breast surgery

(as the patient),

I was recently a patient in ward G2 in the Sheffield Hallamshire Hospital for breast surgery. The standard of care that I received was really very good. Before the operation all the staff tried to allay my fears, and after the operation they were very supportive.

My only concern is that when I came round from the anaesthetic I was trembling for quite a while afterwards, whilst I was offered support at no time was it mentioned that this does sometimes happen. I only found out later that it does, just before I left the hospital the following day, a carer said that it often happens to her. Also after I came out of hospital a member of my family said it happened to him. If I had been told this at the time I feel it could have helped ease my anxiousness, as I had a problem with this on the day after the operation.

Thank you to all concerned for the very high standard of care from Mrs Chandran (Surgeon), doctors, nurses and through to all the caring and auxiliary staff
