"Waiting time for appointment"

(as the patient),

I was referred to Buchanan centre Coatbridge acute services, to attend the pain clinic, I got a letter on May 2014 to attend an appointment on December 2014, which was a long wait, then a few weeks before my appointment they cancelled saying the nurse whom I was to see was off sick, which is understandable. now I have another appointment for July 2015. which I think is shocking that I have had to wait over a year to be seen. surely if the nurse is off sick someone else should stand in and take over the appointments.

Dear Gymgirl

I am sorry that you have been waiting such a long time for your out-patient appointment.

We had some difficulty to cover the sickness absence because it us not easy to find some one with the same expertise. Now she is back to work we are trying to clear the back log as soon as posible.

Dear Hakim Benyounes,

Thank you for your response.

I appreciate that the NHS want to deliver the best possible care but I feel that there should be another Health Care Professional trained to these high standards who are capable to take over if a member of staff is unwell.

Surely in the long term this would help the waiting lists and put less pressure on the Health Care Professional to meet demands.
