I personally cannot fault my whole diary of care and procedures, from Hinchingbrooke for my diagnosis in June, to Addenbrooke's for therapy and finally surgery in January. After diagnosis I received a series of further tests to evaluate my condition, all of which were handled in an informative, totally professional and caring manner. After 6 weeks I had a further 12 weeks of Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy. Yet again the care was outstanding from receptionist, to nurse and doctor, to radiotherapist. After 12 weeks recovery I was admitted for surgery. I stayed in various wards for 11 days. Even with the occasional bad night and medical scare I can honestly say that I actually enjoyed my stay! So much so that even with an adoring wife and three teenage children at home I was in no rush to leave until my last night. I must have been attended to by at least 15 different nurses and various doctors and surgeons, all of whom showed the upmost concern and respect to me as a patient. The names of the professionals I met from both Hinchingbrooke and Addenbrooke's is far too long to list and possibly not appropriate but suffice to say, they all know who they are. They will collectively say they were 'just doing their jobs' but cliché or not, these amazing people do so much more than this on a daily basis. I owe my life to these 2 amazing hospitals. With the bad press sometimes aimed at the NHS it is a shame that glowing reviews are often unheard. I should have written this weeks ago!
