"Staff are more than helpful"

If you are prepared to work with staff, they are more than helpful and work with you. The staff on Forest Ward have waited til my pain is eased then help me to get a regime for me to get myself up. I found it difficult at times with a male nurse but not now; they are all good. Because the staff listened to me we have my pain under control. If they tell me anything they explain the reason why.

The food is not always hot. The choice is not always good for older people. I can tell when there is a different chef on duty. My son is a chef, so I understand some of the problems they have; I shouldn't complain because they do well.

We appreciate you taking the time to share your views regarding your stay on Forest Ward and I will forward your posting to the ward manager to share with her team.

I am pleased that you felt that the staff listened to you, giving explanations when needed and were able to help you mobilise. I am sorry that at first you found it difficult having some of your care from a male nurse but am encouraged that you now feel positive about all of the nursing team. Our ward teams do their best to ensure that patients who make a request are cared for by a member of the same sex if at all possible.

All of the food served is temperature checked at the point of service and we do try and ensure it reaches our patients as soon as possible - I am sorry that on occasions you felt that the food was not hot enough for you. We are currently working with the catering team to review the menus and I will forward your comments to the catering manager.
