"Concerns about partner's care on Moorgate Ward"

My partner suffered an internal head bleed, was rushed to a&e, then icu (pencarrow) where she received excellent care and started to respond when being spoken to, and was receiving physiotherapy as well. Then she was moved to Moorgate.

Here she was dumped in a bed next to a very draughty window, having already suffered a slight touch of pneumonia & a chest infection whilst in hospital. She stopped responding when talked to. Did not receive any physiotherapy until I complained, and this does not occur at weekends.

She cannot turn in bed by herself and needs to be positioned regularly, but this does not occur for the maximum 3 hours. (I was told that this was not harmful to the patient and that 3 hours was the maximum before a patient is turned), has anybody tried lying in one position for twenty minutes never mind 3 hours?) and apparently this changes to 4 hours on a Sunday.

Recently I visited, and found her leaning sideways with her head against the metal siderail of her bed, the window open 3 - 4 inches blowing a freezing gale into face & body (she was very cold to the touch), and the bright sunshine blazing right onto her face. For god's sake how can this be allowed to happen?

At lunchtime, I was told by others in the ward, that her meal had been plonked in front of her and she was left to it. Another patient summoned a nurse who, after 30 minutes, duly arrived. Two spoonfuls were attempted in quick succession, to no avail. Result, written down as patient refused food. Would anyone else eat stone cold pureed food? Several times I have asked to see a doctor in order to air my concerns. This has been noted by the nurse on duty. Does anybody read what is written down?

On her first night in Moorgate ward a ready meal was plonked in front her. It was just as well that I was there and read the ingredients, as there was EGG in it. I asked if they were trying to kill her, as she is very allergic to eggs. Three times I informed the hospital of her allergies. Does one department not talk to another department? Does anybody communicate? Is the information provided secret?

I could go on & on, but I think the above gives the jist of my concerns, and maybe something will be done.
