I attended a pre arranged appointment today with an appointment time of 0930 to see a Doctor.I was seen by a nurse who carried out a cursory eye test and told me that the clinic was running on time and that four Doctors were available. At 1030 I left the department having not seen the Doctor and having wasted my time.During the hour I sat waiting not a word of apology for keeping me waiting.I presume that this arrogant attitude is acceptable to some patients who have no experience of better but it wont do for me. It is inconceivable that I would keep a Consultant waiting for an hour to see me and yet it seems to be acceptable for my time to be used without apology or information. It is of supreme disinterest to me that the clinic is "under pressure" or that there are internal management problems and I would remind anyone who bothers to read this that any manager would know that work expands to fill the time available to do it.Given the funding I expect world class treatment not mud hut village treatment and I will be writing to the Chief Executive to tell him so knowing it wont make a scrap of difference.I have just discovered that the Eye Department doesnt exist on the list of departments "which dept did you visit"list. That does not surprise me at all, more anything will do attitude.
