I was first an in patient ,for six weeks, in Nov/Dec 2013,I had three major spinal ops, which were deemed inoperable by other hospitals for six years. The result was amazing, my once curved and twisted spine was almost straight and more importantly after a few weeks, I was virtually pain free. Unfortunately,in Jan this year I had to be re admitted for some further repair work, mainly due to the degenerative nature of my condition.I naturally didn't want to go back, but I couldn't have been made more welcome,I was greeted like a long lost friend.I was very happy to see so many happy smiling faces of the staff. Its such a contented and efficient team, from domestic, clerical, medical, porters in fact everyone.when the staff are happy ,they work as a team and the patient benefits greatly. My eternal thanks to all but mainly to my Consultant surgeon, who in my opinion achieved what I had been told, for so long was impossible. My care will possibly be ongoing for some time but I know that I am in good hands. What a pity that due to lack of funding,Stanmore may have to be pulled down as virtually not fit for purpose. For the sake of bricks and mortar, patients will no longer have the facility of this marvellous hospital. If there was a pending war,no doubt then, all required funds would be available no matter how much.Surely it's got to be better to save lives and give people back their independence, which is what the staff at Stanmore do. Its a World renowned hospital, what an impression foreign visitors must get, when they first see the surroundings,it in no way reflects the quality of the care given.
