"Truly Awful"

About: Watford General Hospital

All I can say is thank god for the CQC. My grandfather was admitted in mid December after a fall at home, he was then discharged in a state of confusion without proper care in place, Social Services were trying to organise a package of care at home but it wasn't until nine days after his discharge that they found out he'd been released as WG failed to inform them that he'd gone home. He was then re admitted after ten days having had yet another fall, on the day he was re admitted his medication and front door keys finally turned up at his house by hospital courier as his personal possessions were not given to him when he was released, the hospital informed me 24 hours after discharge that they forgot to clear his bedside cabinet. He then spent a further two weeks in hospital and was then discharged again without either myself (nok), the appointed care agency and SS being informed, it was only by chance that he got access to his property as his next door neighbour was in and they had a key. He was admitted again yesterday after another fall and upon my arrival he'd been transferred to a new ward without any of his possessions, which then took half an hour to locate. I'm just glad I won't be growing old in WG's catchment area, truly awful experiences.
