"Inpatient"

About: Bedford Hospital South Wing

After being admitted to A+E, I was first of transferred to the AEU which is a strange twilight zone with a mixture of all kinds of patients. Very difficult to get any sleep due to an elderly gentleman that was admitted late at night that was reliving the World War. Also hard because I was put in the same bay as the one my dad was in, the last time I saw him alive. Transferred after a visit to the endoscopy unit to Harpur ward. Staff on this ward excellent - apart from one particular night sister that seemed to find it a problem that I needed a blood transfusion and insisted on shouting my name all over the ward at 10 o'clock at night! At least I didn't see much of her for the rest of that night or others after as she seemed to disappear after a certain time until just before handover time. Apart from that, the rest of the staff were excellent - caring and helpful however short staffed they were. Considering it was the first time I had been an inpatient in this country, I know that any fear i previously had have gone, should I need to be there again!

Hello and thank you for sharing your experience of the care you recevied recently at Bedford Hospital. Firstly, I am pleased to hear that you found our staff on Harpur Ward friendly and caring and that they helped to allay any fears that you previous had. I will make sure that your kind comments are passed on to the team. I am sorry, however, to hear about your name being called out across the ward by one member of staff and I will make sure this is also fed back to the team. Best wishes and thanks again.
