"Great Staff - Poor Communication"

About: King George Hospital

Being symptom free for over a month and feeling fine, it was with confidence that I went for a routine urology scan. To my surprise I was asked to stay in overnight - I'm not sure why. I left the next day with a catheter, pain, bloody urine and two medications supplied. without explanation, for symptoms that I did not have! One of the supplied medications appears to conflict severely with one of my regular medications: Tamsulosin .v, Doxazosin. Sadly, I did upset one elderly and unsmiling nurse but otherwise I found the staff in Iris Ward were magnificent, being efficient, caring and seemingly happy in their work. One highlight was a very brisk nurse who glided round the ward like a ballerina!

Thank you for commenting on NHS Choices. We are concerned about the communication between you and our staff, you should always feel like you know why certain decisions and treatments are made. We would like to investigate as a matter of urgency and in order to do so I need some more information. Please contact me via our PALS team on 01708 435 454 or email PALS@bhrhospitals.nhs.uk. We are also concerned that you found one of our staff to not meet the standards both we and you expect. It is pleasing to hear that otherwise you found our staff on Iris ward to be excellent. Yours sincerely, Nadeem Moghal, Medical Director and Flo Panel-Coates, Chief Nurse
