After just over a week in Critical Care, my dad passed away on 11th February. My family and I cannot praise the staff, each and every one of them for the professionalism, Dignity and respect shown to Dad.He couldn't have been cared for any better and it made his last days of his life easier knowing he was getting the best care possible.He died with dignity and free from pain. My mum and I were informed fully in a manner we both understood and helped to make his passing as bearable as possible. Thankyou to all the staff

Dear Heather, Can I firstly offer my deepest sympathy for the loss of your Dad ? It is exceptionally kind of you to take the time to share this review at such a painful and difficult time. I do feel incredibly proud of our critical care teams. Listening to lots of patient feedback, I have learnt about the quality of their care, and their commitment to continually improve and provide service of the highest standards at all times. Your kind words have enabled me to fully appreciate just how much this means to patients and their families at the end of life. Thank you. Our part in delivering healthcare comes, I believe, with a very special privilege to be with people at such critical moments in their lives, including those times when they are at their most sick, frightened and vulnerable. I was delighted to read about the kind and gentle support that you and your Mum received whilst on the unit, and the impact of those special staff who truly understand the importance of the ‘human touch’. I will, of course, share your thoughtful letter with the team. It will a great deal to them to know that their care and compassion has helped you through this extremely difficult period.
