I cannot fault the doctors or nurses who looked after me when I had my ankle fusion operation. I received first class treatment from most of the staff on site especially the nurses on D ward they were excellent. In this day and age of jobs-worth, the litigation culture prevents administration staff of thinking and using their initiative which I believe is holding the NHS back.
In my opinion too many managers, too many accountants, and too many pen pushers will destroy the good-will and caring nature of these dedicated nurses. My knee operation and my ankle operation have both been a success and the care I received from the nursing staff was first class. The food was good and the cleanliness of the ward was good but I could see faults, after all the building is nearly 100 years old. I believe that money must be diverted back to basics; after all it is the patient who keeps the NHS in work.
