"Opthalmic - Appointments"

About: Essex County Hospital

Twice I have been to the emergency clinic at Lexden road, On both occasions the consultants have seen me with in an hour of the appointment time. On both occasions they have asked for me to come back within 2 weeks, both times I asked if this needed to be booked while I am there, both times they said they would contact me by letter I never received an appointment so had to ring up and book a new appointment, When asked why no letter has been sent the bottom line is they have no spare slots to book appointments and I therefore have to phone in and take an emergency slot. The appointment was booked and they said they would send out a letter first class, I asked for it to be emailed to me and they said they did not have the facility, I wonder how much is waster on post each year. The sadder thing is this review has the facility to email me......What a waste

I apologise you’ve not had a good patient experience. We try really hard to improve our services based on the comments we receive from our patients, their relatives or carers. We would like the opportunity to discuss your experiences more fully and to apologise in person. If you are willing I would appreciate it if I could ask the matron to contact you. Could you email me, using the reference “Comment on Ophthalmology at Essex County Hospital 13/02/2015 06:47:36”, please? Many thanks Paul Searle, Head of Communications Colchester Hospital University NHS Foundation Trust info@colchesterhospital.nhs.uk
