"very little care"

About: Princess Alexandra Hospital (Harlow)

My daughter had her baby at this hospital in the summer of 2014. If we had known how bad her time spent there would be we would have considered another hospital a few miles further on. The staff were rude and quite often patronising. Time and again they would disappear and not return. Thankfully the baby was fine but even the aftercare was shocking, At no point was my daughter shown the basics of topping and tailing, the staff seemed to think they would already know this plus how to warm bottles in their equipment. As this was her first baby she had no idea and asking resulted in condescending abrupt answers. I would not recommend this hospital as a wonderful place to have your baby,go elsewhere

Dear Anonymous, It is heart breaking to read your story about your daughter's maternity experience as we work hard to help create a the right environment at this special time, and create the right atmosphere for the care of your loved ones. We know that services are extremely busy in maternity departments around the country, but that clearly does not explain what your daughter has experienced. Please get in touch with the Patient Experience team on 01279 82 70 84 from Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm and we will work with you to document your experience and then work with teams to ensure that this does not happen again. The experience your daughter had is not acceptable and we need to take action to ensure this is not repeated.
