Following an appointment at St.George's Hospital, where I found out that I had cancer (a malignant melanoma), I was told that I had to have a blood test, X-ray and pre-op check. I waited 70 minutes for a blood test, 25 minutes for an x-ray and 2hrs 40 minutes for a pre-op check - all this on the same day as I had been told I had cancer! Whilst I can appreciate it is difficult to co-ordinate these services, surely there could more care and attention given for some patients when they have had potentially devastating news - luckily I had my husband with me but could quite easily have been on my own. I can honestly say it was the worst day of my life and made worse by this poor attention to patient need and inefficiency. This a continuation of a previous story. Click here to view.
