"Paramedics were very kind and represented the service very well"

About: South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as the patient),

I was asleep last night, which is unusual for me, and was woken up with terrible chest pain, so severe I could not move my neck or my arm or take deep breaths. I managed to call 999 and the paramedics who came were excellent. Ben, Doug and Rob were very thorough and vey kind.

They did an ECG and other tests and, given my medical history, asked if I wanted to go into hospital, but who does? I preferred to stay at home, not least because I had a hospital appointment the next day anyway.

I had a high temperature, a urinary tract and chest infections for which they gave me medication. The paramedics said they would phone my doctor in the morning and let them know how I was.

All three paramedics were very, very kind and represented the service very well.

Dear Dash299

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I hope you are feeling much better now.

It is always rewarding to hear that our staff are continuing to provide excellent care to our patients when they need us most. Not every patient needs to go to hospital and South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust is committed to delivering better and better care every year, ensuring that all our patients get the right care in the right place at the right time.

I would like to pass your kind comments onto Ben, Dough and Rob who came to your aid. Would you be able to contact me, laura.martin@swast.nhs.uk or call 01392 453831, at your convenience, with the date and address that the ambulance attended? This would allow me to identify the staff involved and ensure they are recognised for the care they gave.

Thank you again for providing feedback on our service.

Kind regards

Laura
