(as the patient),

Fantastic experience in the Birthing Unit where our son was born. All staff introduced themselves and were caring throughout. Confident in our attending midwives throughout our delivery while I was anxious at times and things were moving fast. Attentive aftercare and very good clear communication. No worries about having another baby there in the future!

The timing of the 6 hours post birth check could be improved

I am responsible for everything to do with facilities, estates and IT. This includes our £50m building programme, food, cleaning, estates, porters, telephones, IT, transport, car parks and anything similar. Also leading our new Patient Experience Programme.

Thank you for your kind comments about your recent time in the maternity unit at East Surrey Hospital and in particular the birthing unit. Its good to read that you felt that staff were attentive and provide good communication when you were clearly anxious about the experience.
