"Lovely care and attention at St George's Tooting"

About: St George's Hospital (Tooting) (London) St George's Hospital (Tooting) / Colorectal surgery

(as the patient),

I was a patient on Vernon ward following colorectal surgery for cancer.

I found all the staff very kind and efficient. All the staff gave great attention to the patients, despite always appearing to be very busy. The nursing assistants helped other patients who could not eat very well; all staff appeared to pay close attention to hygiene.

When I was seen in various out-patient departments, including where blood tests were undertaken and in clinic 3 everyone was very kind to me, a very anxious and nervous patient.

The staff in the endoscopy unit where I had investigations were all so kind. The doctors that I encountered were beyond praise. The 3 Church of England hospital chaplains were also very kind and supportive.

(I hate hospitals and I hated being on a ward with other patients rather than in a room on my own but there was nothing that could be done about that; it made getting home quickly after 4 nights even sweeter!)
