"Knee op postponement without informing me"

I travelled all the way from Alfreton in Derbyshire approx 25 miles each way just for the hospital to inform me it was put back a week without informing me. I had the pre-op the week before and apparently they should of told me of this being put back a week

Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention, your feedback is welcomed and we will always endeavour to resolve and improve our ways of working as a result of any feedback received.

We have looked into the issue you raised about not being informed that your procedure date had changed and consequently you having a wasted journey to Thornbury hospital. Our records confirm that on the 20th January the hospital sent a letter to you with the amended date, although you have made us aware that you did not receive the letter. Also the new date should also have been confirmed with you at the pre-assessment, however at your pre-assessment, the original date was confirmed and not the new one, so you weren’t aware of the change.

We have raised this with the Thornbury Hospital, who also apologise for this lapse in communication. They have assured us that this issue will be raised at an operational level to ensure it does not happen again.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused on this occasion, I hope you will find that a refund of your travel expenses compensates somewhat for this.

Thank you for the reply and all the help you gave me after the phone call ...

As I was in yesterday for my op after all the mishaps everything went ok and I could not thank the surgeons, nurses and all other staff that was in involved I managed to get in and out in the day and would highly recommend thornbury hospital
