"A&E nightmare turned good"

About: Tameside General Hospital

I went in today because of severe abdominal pain which in the end turned out to be an infection. The only part that was a little uncomfortable was when the nurses were taking like they wouldn't be able to help me and that I'd be sent home in pain. Other than that I had an amazing experience and would defo return.

Response from Lindsay Stewart, Deputy Director of Nursing, Tameside and Glossop Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust

Thank you for taking the time to enter your comments. I am disappointed to note the attitude of the staff made you feel uncomfortable and that the inference was you may be left in pain. This is not the standard of care expected by either myself or the Trust and your concerns will be discussed through our band 7 and Governance meetings held within the A&E department. Please accept my apologies. I am however pleased that the remainder of your visit met your expectations

Director of Nursing

’Would you like to help the hospital to improve its services further? We are currently looking for patients and carers to become involved in a development called “Patient Stories”. We want to know more about our services from the point of view of those who received them – what was good, bad, what could be improved, what should be changed. Want to know more about what’s involved? Please contact John Goodenough, Director of Nursing at john.goodenough@tgh.nhs.uk
