"Very disgusted!"

About: Macclesfield District General Hospital

I am very disgusted with Macclesfield Hospital. I've been waiting and waiting for a letter for my operation as I had my pre-op months ago.. They called me today to tell me they could fit me in tomorrow at 07.30am for my operation because they had a cancellation.. So I therefore arranged time off work, a lift there and back, someone to look after my dogs, I tried getting myself mentally prepared (as I'm scared about the procedure although I know I have to undergo it...) Then they called me this evening saying I could no longer have the operation as there is no beds to accommodate me... I'm furious, as they got my hopes up. Why call me up in the first place is they didn't have any beds to accommodate patients?!

Response from Macclesfield District General Hospital

We were very sorry to read your comments. Like most other hospitals, Macclesfield District General recently faced an exceptionally busy period with a very high number of patient admissions. As a result, we have had to postpone some less urgent surgery in order to prioritise the most urgent and life-threatening cases. We appreciate this may have caused frustration for some patients but would like to reassure you we are endeavouring to reschedule postponed operations as quickly and safely as we can. Mr. Raymund Devaraj - Director of Operations is personally aware of your concerns and would very much like to discuss them with you. Mr. Devaraj can be contacted by telephoning 01625 661167 or by email via raymund.devaraj@nhs.net The trust aims to continually improve the quality of services we provide and your feedback is key to achieving this.
