"Monday morning A&E Corridor Shuffle"

Not happy - My Mother who is elderly was brought in with suspected stroke symptoms. When myself and my relative arrived shortly after the ambulance to A&E we found Mum on a trolley in a corridor. I presume she was seen initially by a nurse because during our 4 hour stay only one nurse came up to us to take some bloods. Then we had to wait and got shuffled twice up the corridor which at one point had 8 beds lining up this was only one corridor and I don't know if there were more on the other corridors! Once she was seen by a doctor who was extremely nice and apologetic she was told she could then have a drink 3 hours after admittence. All the time Mum and some other elderly people were waiting nurses were going back and forth with open pans and bottles of urine etc as we were right outsed the sluice. Now I don't call that very hygenice or dignified. If the hospital A&E cannot cope with the demand then they should close perhaps then the press will help force the government into doing something. The signs on the wall said no photos or videos to be taken because of patients dignity but not just that I imagine it is because of bad press, The management the people reading and reviewing this need to get out of their top floor offices and realise how bad the situation is and how many people perceive this hospital to be. The staff are working so hard in such horrid conditions they don't deserve this either. Until you have experienced this first hand you wouldn't believe well I believe it now!
