"Overlooked in Trauma and Orthopaedics"

About: Southmead Hospital

My partner Marilyn had an appointment in the Trauma and Orthopaedics clinic at 12.55 on the 9th Feb 2015 but we were not seen until 15.00pm. After 30 mins I checked with reception that we were in the queue and was assured that we were. After an hour I was directed to waiting room A to enquire there and was told that the consultant had arrived late and there would be a delay. After 2 hours I enquired again and was told that for some reason the appointment time was for a morning clinic, but that the clinic wasn't open until 13.30pm and that we weren't on the list for afternoon appointments. We were then seen more or less straight away. If I hadn't complained, we would have been left there after all the other patients had been seen. None of the staff enquired why we hadn't been seen even though they could see that we had been there for 2 hours while all the other patients had come and gone. Surely its not asking to much for them to keep an eye on the patient movement in the waiting room with a view to making sure that no one had been overlooked. The computer is not always right.
