"Cryogenic surgery for a kidney tumour"

About: St James's University Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

After a scan for kidney stones, I was diagnosed with a tumour in my left kidney.

I was referred to St James, Dr Cartridge who explained the options available to me which were surgical removal by keyhole or tumour ablation. I was then referred to Dr Wah who explained further about tumour ablation in a very thorough and easy to understand way. It was because she was so understanding, professional and approachable that I felt able to make a confident decision to go ahead with the ablation.

I had the surgery at St James' very quickly after consultation and felt that the level of support and care received was excellent from all staff in all departments.

I have recovered well.

Dear RS56

Thank you for taking the time to write to us. I am very happy to read that you have recovered well.

I have passed your comments on to the Hepato-renal and Oncology department at St James’s Hospital as well as Dr Catledge and Dr Wah who will deeply appreciate your kind words.

It was very uplifting and gratifying knowing that you had such a positive experience whilst in our care and that we delivered a level of care that met your expectations.

They, as much as I, deeply appreciate your words of support and gratitude.
