"What does crisis mean"

About: Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust / Crisis resolution

(as a relative),

My Partner was feeling suicicidal and he was told if he felt this way ever again to phone the crisis team in Lincoln who would be there to talk to him. However recently in February my partner did exactly this and phoned and was told he would be called back in twenty minutes time. As I was with him I witnessed that no body Ever did ring him until the afternoon when he had been taken into hospital because he had no medical support and no one had got back or kept to their word to him of the time limit of twenty minites.

I was here when they called and I asked where was there support when they said they could offer it. They said that there services were not an Emergency service when I asked them what Crisis meant to them! I said so what does Crisis Mean and the person couldn't get off the phone fast enough.

Response from Marion Christopher, Patient Experience Coordinator, PALS & Complaints, Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

Dear Sunshinelady, thank you for taking the time to share your story with us. A Mental Health Crisis should mean, in the first instance, that you receive a kind, caring and compassionate response and we deliver on our promises. Clearly you did not feel this had occurred on this occasion and I would like to offer you and your partner my sincere apologies for your experience and hope you are both safe and well.

I would really welcome the opportunity to discuss this situation directly with you to gain a better understanding of why the breakdown occurred so I am better able to make the necessary improvements.

Kind regards

Craig McLean (Head of Acute Care)

Please contact the PALS department on 01529 222265 or email PALS@lpft.nhs.uk and they will forward your concerns to me to investigate further.
