I have regular diabetic eye screening every year. A problem was overlooked which my optition detected only 2 weeks later. I phoned the screening department who reviewed my photographs and asked me to come to the hospital that day. I had a scan and was inform of a macular leakage and should have a review in 4 months in the medical retina clinic. This was supposed to be in October but did not hear about any appointment so called the treatment centre and after many calls and endless answer phone messages finally got an appointment for 31st December. This was then cancelled with an appointment 21st January. Further issues were diognosed and surgery was offered. I saw the surgeon 3rd February who again suggested an opperation which I would confirm later that day to be put on the awing list I have done this but have been sent a further appointment in March I am not sure why this is. I am concerned as I am told that the 18 week pathway would start from March. I understand that it should start from referral. Ie 21 January. Actually it should have started from my appointment in December??? I was let down last summer by the screening department. Let down with not receiving an appointment in October. Let down again with a cancelled appointment in December. Now I find out I not been added to the waiting and told it would be 18 weeks from when I was put on the list. eg March. Surely this not correct....
