"Risk assessment on medical needs"

About: Chase Farm Hospital

I am leaving a review following experiencing two recent procedures for both the Surgi Ward and the Day surgery unit. Both the events have the same negative impact. 1. As you walk in all you witness is all the staff at the front desks so engrossed in what their tasks entail that there are no clear reassuring directions to follow for the patients. Maybe there should b a checking in system. 2. You are ushered in a cubicle with just a chair there. Patients are coming there with physical conditions that a chair is just not suitable for their medical needs. Also to sit only endlessly in the waiting area waiting for your turn only increases your anxiety on what is about to occur. 3. Patients are anxious, elderly and frightened. Having a communal area where they can sit with their loved one's can reduce the above. 4. The walk to the operation room is another downfall. It really feels like you are about to face a sentencing. 5.The walk into the theatre room is very undignified. All you see is faces looking at you and you asked to lie like this and that while fully aware that your attire is fully exposed while been amongst male and female there. 6. Has there been any patient surveys done? Patients need to express the positive and the negatives and make suggestions. This was also reflected by the other patients there and we all felt the same. 7. Is this a reducing waiting lists whilst cost saving for non of the other hospitals have this system of patient care during experiencing surgeries. On a plus...The staff have a wonderful caring manner in the Day surgery Ward. The nurse's explained and did their job's superbly.
