"Kindness and respect"

About: Ealing Hospital

My 88-year old mother was taken to A&E yesterday in an ambulance after her morning carer found she had had a fall at home. She suffers from mild dementia and was a little confused, as well as having a bad bruise on her face. She asked me to write to say how pleased she was with the kindness and efficiency of how she was treated in A&E and the Clinical Decisions Unit - she had quite a few tests, and my sister and I were kept informed of how she was doing and when she was likely to be discharged by a social worker who was on her case. I was able through the day to get through to people who knew what was going on. At about 3.30pm I was told she could go home, and I came to collect her. I received clear instructions on some extra medication. A friendly nurse wheeled her out to the front of the hospital so I could get her easily into the car. She was very happy with everything - except for the sandwiches which she said were made of very thick white bread with not much filling! Thank you to everyone in A&E and the CDU.
