"An unfriendly echocardiogram at Northampton"

My child recently had to attend the Echocardiography Department at NGH. I felt the person who did the echocardiogram came across as very abrupt and unfriendly. I explained to my child before they went what was going to happen and they were in fact looking forward to 'seeing their heart on the screen' and to ask a few questions. My child did everything that was asked of them but I did not feel that the member of staff was approachable to ask them for a few minutes of their time. I appreciate that they are very busy but a few minutes of their time would have been appreciated by my child. I am not sure if they do not like children or if that is their attitude to all patients. People do not usually attend hospital unless they are ill and I don't think it is too much to ask to be pleasant even if they are busy. My child has had a lot of contact with many members of staff over the last three years at Northampton General Hospital and this has been his worst experience.
