"A&E Emergency Admission"

About: Macclesfield District General Hospital

I was taken by ambulance to A&E as a precautionary admission to rule out possible heart attack having experienced sudden on-set acute back pain affecting my breathing. I was given a bed straight away in A&E triage, quickly assessed and moved into Major bed area of A&E. ECGs were carried out at intervals and I had both a chest x-ray and later a CT scan having been seen by the A&E consultant. There was a clear explanation of what was happening and why; staff were extremely kind throughout and I was provided with pain killers, lunch and numerous hot drinks throughout the day. I spent around 10 hours in A&E until being discharged with a clean bill of health - probable cause of pain a torn ligament. This was my first visit to Macclesfield Hospital and I cannot praise the quality of care and thoroughness of tests highly enough. Special mention to A&E nurse; A&E doctor and Consultant.
