"Can A+E deal with patients sent to them by GPs?"

About: Hereford County Hospital

Sent to A+E by a GP for a replacement catheter after a district nurse and he had found difficulties, an 83 yr old cancer sufferer (who died 11 days later) was not treated by a urologist for nearly 4hrs. A reply from the Chief Exec. to written complaints of treatment during his time in A+E is full of factual errors and evidence of poor record keeping. As no transport was available he was sent home in his car in the care of his 79yr old wife while wearing bloody and urine soaked clothes. His treatment was shameful and his dignity abused. Have other sufferers been satisfied that complaints about the hospital have had any effect?
