"Website waiting times are incorrect."

About: Medway Maritime Hospital

Can you please tell me why you advertise waiting times for the Maxillofacial surgery team at 25 days, when I have been waiting over 100 days and when I ring the Patient call centre they say Government guide lines say 13 weeks but they cant meet this and I will need to wait another month before bothering to ring them back. Patients are been left to wait with no updates, to me its all about politics and numbers instead Patients.

We are sorry that you have been waiting longer than you should for your maxillofacial surgery appointment. The service is provided at Medway Maritime Hospital by Queen Victoria Hospital NHS Foundation Trust (QVH). QVH specialises in maxillofacial surgery, along with other reconstructive services, and their clinical teams provide services at a number of hospitals across the region. We believe that the waiting times shown on the NHS Choices website are an average of the waiting times at all hospitals where QVH provides services. We agree that this is unhelpful to patients at individual hospitals and QVH will work with NHS Choices to see if more accurate figures can be provided for each hospital. There have been longer waiting times for QVH maxillofacial surgery services at Medway because of a number of doctor vacancies in the QVH team. Progress has been made in filling these vacancies and the team is now planning additional evening clinics to reduce waiting times to as soon as possible. To discuss how soon we may be able to arrange your appointment, please contact Sharon Kaur (QVH maxillofacial Team Leader) via the switchboard at Medway Hospital.
