"Orthopedics consultation"

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital

dreadful....and I try not to moan or complain. in agony for 6 months now.... I have a competent G.P in Huddersfield, A step daughter who is a fully qualifiedsaid physio and live with a child assistant physio, . Had X rays to discount hip originally in Hudds. The G.P. originally backed a back issue!! Then had an MRI scan in Huddersfield and saw a physio the next day who showed me my problem but said that it needed to be formally reported on. This scan was forward to you 3 weeks prior to consultation. I opted for Stoke Mandeville only so that I could have cover post op in Hemel. My appointment was pointless...kept waiting nearly 2 hours to listen to a registrar throw opinions re the MRI scan in a mixture of poor English and medical speech...fortunately my partner was able to translate !! Had a complete run down of what may happen re. incontinence etc etc ...little to do with my problem! I have a back problem. The consultant then came in and took over insisting that I have a hip X- Ray again !! That was done and he said that he would contact me on Friday with its results ....still waiting !! Today I have made 10 yes 10 phone calls starting at 4.25 asking to speak to the consultant's secretary who appears to be away. Again going through switchboard asking for orthopaedics I was passed on to a team leader but the call rang out and dropped. Finally promised that they had my number and they would ring me back. Still waiting at 5.15 p.m. Needless to say the main switchboard has now gone home. I have absolutely no confidence what-so-ever in this hospital. Having being married to a competent ex wife for 28 years who was a ward manager / midwife etc in Leeds I have a sympathy for the difficulties in the hospital services but my experience is the pits.
