"111 sent two paramedics round to see me, they were brilliant"

About: Croydon University Hospital / Accident and emergency Harmoni / NHS 111 London Ambulance Service NHS Trust

(as the patient),

About 3 weeks ago I had a bad infection and high temperature. I called the GP surgery, because they were closed the receptionist suggested I called 111 for help and advice.

111 took down all the details and sent two paramedics round to see me. They were brilliant. They checked my blood pressure, took my temperature and looked at the medication I was taking. Because of the fever they thought it would be better if I went to the A&E at the Croydon University Hospital to make sure the temperature came down.

They took me to the hospital and stayed until I was seen by the doctors and nurses and they knew I would be OK, they wished me good luck and hoped I would soon feel better before they left!

In A&E I was put on a drip and given painkillers to make me feel better. I was discharged after 6-7 hours when my temperature had dropped. My daughter came to the hospital later and was able to take me home. This is the first time I've needed to use the 111 service, it was brilliant.
