"Visit to A&E on Saturday 31st January"

About: Scunthorpe General Hospital

I write this as I am so upset by my visit to Scunthorpe A&E on Saturday evening. I am 13 weeks pregnant and was told to go to A&E after a small bleed, I went to the hospital and saw a doctor there who took my details and asked about my bleed (which was minimal but I was obviously worried as this was the first time it had happened) the doctor then went on to tell me I was starting to have a miscarriage, to which my husband replied, is there no chance at all that the baby could be ok? to which he replied "no Im sorry there is very little chance the baby will be OK" to which I burst into tears and he handed me a tissue and told me I would need a scan to confirm I had miscarried but he couldnt arrange a scan until the following Tuesday afternoon. I was so devastated by the news I went immediately for a Private Scan only to be told the bleed is actually quite common and my baby is absolutely fine and I should never have been told I was having a miscarriage certainly with no real evidence of one or a scan etc performed! I was given also a printed sheet of paper with my Scan date time on, so I called to cancel this as I had had a private scan only to find the number on the sheet is incorrect also. This has been an extremely upsetting position I was put in for no reason!
