"Discectomy operation"

About: Salford Royal

After visiting Physio in Wigan who advised I immediately went to A&E . I spent 4 hours in A&E Wigan then was blue lighted to Salford Royal. From A& E at Salford I was transferred to M2 su . Everything was happening so quickly for me as I was expecting physio that morning and next thing I know I'm an impatient. I had an MRI scan Saturday which was explained in detail to me by the registrar that evening and the options I had . During which time I was treated with dignity & respect throughout and listened to . The staff on the ward were excellent at all times and nothing was too much trouble for them. Sunday morning the consultant and registrar plus others spoke to me again and my decision was to have the operation . I was told I would be on his reserve list for the Monday . So I fasted etc as requested . Late morning it was suggested it may be Tues but to continue fasting in case a gap became available . Around 1pm I was greeted by another consultant who'd had a big operation cancelled and he offered to do my operation instead . So it was wagons roll and I was prepped and signed all my consent for theatre . 3pm ish off I went to theatre . Operation done back in the ward early evening . The staff were again excellent at all times and I was not the model patient following anaesthetic this spent all night apologising to their amusement . I was somewhat disorientated on return but soon calmed down much to my embarassment . Overall through my somewhat surreal experience I cannot fault any of the staff who worked on the ward or consultants etcetera. The ward was immaculate and each bay thoroughly cleaned when patients left . Thank you M2su ward !
