"process of perscribing and dispensing drugs tn..."

About: North Middlesex Hospital

I had a very stressfull out patients appointment and put on new pain killers along with collecting my anti cancer drugs. I find the delay once the anti cancer prescription had been authorised by the consultant on line, until the time i can collect not justified. As i often have to wait two days. Also waiting for pain killers up to 2 hours far from acceptable. Please can I go to my local boots, it would only take 10 minutes and take the pressure off staff Who are clearly not coping.

Thank's for your feedback and I am sorry for the delay you experienced. I am the head of pharmacy services, sarla.drayan@nhs.net and would like to make sure that the processes run smoothly so that patients like yourself do not face delays. It is difficult for me to comment on the delay you reported without more details of the chemotherapy as it is possible some further checks may have been needed to ensure you were treated safely. Drug therapy as you know is complex. Waiting for pain killers it's hard to comment without knowing about the detailed circumstances but we would not expect you to wait for painkillers if you are in pain. I would be happy for you to provide details to me directly so we can see what can be improved. I would also like to share your comments with the team so that we can make sure the whole process is working as it should be.
