We were referred to the manor hospital after being told we needed ivf treatment. All I can say is the whole process from start to finish was unacceptable. I feel as though the nhs did not want to pay for the treatment and kept putting obstacles in our way and we're forcing us to go for private treatment. The consultants involved were rude and ill prepared for appointments with lots of misinformation and inaccurate details about what was happening with our results from blood tests and procedures. We thought we were in good hands and could trust the nhs to look after our needs and that they would have our best interests at heart but that was far from the truth. I was repeatedly told my bmi was too high so as well as trying to find out why I am not getting pregnant I'm being told I'm too fat. I was so upset as I have seen heavier ladies get pregnant but I was told it was my weight. The consultants were making things difficult for us and leaving us in the dark about important information and it was only when we made the decision to go private that all the vital information was given to us by the clinic which the nhs failed to provide. The decision to have treatment privately came when after spending 2 yrs with the nhs and getting no where fast and the consultant saying its gonna take another 18 months on the waiting list we had no choice as we are not getting any younger. The clinic we choose to have out treatment at came up against complications which had the nhs picked up during the 2 yr investigation process it would have made us aware of why we not getting pregnant. I would think twice about getting advice from some of the senior consultants as they are far too busy and don't really want to help we are just on conveyor belt passing along the line. I think it's a poor way to deal with people who are already upset and are coming to the nhs for help.
