"Numerous in & outpatient visits"

About: Birmingham Women's Hospital

I've been back & forward too this hospital over the last 6 years. I have Endometriosis & PCOS both diagnosed at the womens in 2009. Over the years I've met a number of consultants, Nurses & clinical staff. The care I've received has always been great on the Gynae outpatients ward since they realised i knew my own mind & was completely informed on my conditions & treatment options. The consultants have been happy for me too choose the way forward within the options with their support. I've had 3 surgies the first under a female consultant who i lost my faith in. I've been under the same consultant for years who is an expert in minimal access surgery! He is fantastic & a credit too this hospital. He has been second too none in helping me with making informed choices & in excising endometriosis on two occasiona via laparoscopy. Endometriosis grows back & needs treatment regularly & this hospital is willing to offer it. Ward 7 & 8 are were you go for day/ overnight cases. The wards are clean & friendly but i would say the staff always seem like they have too much work & not enough time. On each overnight occasion I've felt like a burden & like everything i ask is too much. I was made to stay in extended recovery the last time i was in & i had two nurses too look after just me constantly. I felt like the nurses felt I didn't need this care & I agreed I'd have been happier on the ward & patients who had came round from surgery badly would have been better placed in this care but I didn't ask for this care i was given it because of my extensive health issues & risk of complications. I felt like a complete drain on resources but I couldn't be more greatful for what this hospital as a whole has done for me.
