I previously left an opinion on here back in 2013 regarding the brilliant service I received at the early pregnancy unit due to a miscarriage. This time I'm happy to say my opinion is about the care I received during and after the birth of my first baby in September 2014.
I had wanted a water birth, however I had to be induced due to going past my due date and up to 42 weeks pregnant. I was very impressed with the service, first thing on the morning of me turning 42 weeks pregnant a midwife (Kat) rang me about booking me in for induction on that day.
I was able to go in straight away and was well monitored and looked after. Unfortunately my baby didn't react well to the drug given to start contractions and her heart rate started reducing. Due to the circumstances I had to have an emergency caesarean.
The staff were very professional, made me feel at ease with the situation and more importantly were quick and efficient at what they were doing. They got my baby out in 3 minutes and I'm pleased to say she is a happy and healthy baby.
I would like to thank Dr Miti who performed the c-section, and Dr Wigginton and Jeanette (midwife) who made me feel relaxed and at ease during the operation. There were also other midwives and maternity assistants I saw during my time in hospital that were brilliant at their jobs, but I can't remember their names (apologies!). I can honestly say that the maternity services at North Staffs are fantastic and I can't praise the staff highly enough.
