"My visit to the AAU after A+E ward 31B"

About: Southmead Hospital

After being sent to A+E by my gp I was admitted to the AAU before being moved to a ward, as an 18 year old fairly healthy girl, I was very scared that I was being admitted to hospital for the first time in my life. My own private room was ace, and the fact they deep cleaned the room before I came in made me really impressed, because everyone knows all hospitals have bed shortages and the fact they still took time to deep clean left me really impressed. The nurses were amazing, and when the night nurses came on they were brilliant, I was confused at what the doctors intentions were in reference to the tests she wanted to conduct and what was actually happening and why I was staying in- when I spoke about this to one particular nurse after the doctor had left, this nurse moved heaven and earth to get the doctor to come back and talk to me although the doctor was very busy. I couldn't believe that she done that for me, and she made me a cup of tea and got me some food from where I was nil by mouth in A and E. I couldn't thank this nurse enough at the time, and I will always be grateful at how comfortable she made me feel.
