"Appointment cancellation enough to make you ill!"

About: Royal Preston Hospital / Ear, Nose and Throat

(as the patient),

I have been waiting weeks to see a consultant at the ENT clinic at the Royal Preston Hospital as my appointment was cancelled the day before. I have phoned the hospital twice since and no one can tell me why it was cancelled or when I shall receive another appointment. If I don’t hear from them what is the best thing to do? I thought the law now said that you had to be seen in a certain number of weeks. I was told this by the person on the phone (who did not know how to put me on hold). I told him please don’t cut me off as I had been waiting ten minutes for some one to speak to me. But guess what? Yes he cut me off and I had to start again; this is enough to make you ill!

Thank you for taking the time to talk about your experiences. I am sorry to hear that you have had such a difficult time rescheduling an appointment. I would like to recommend that you contact your local NHS Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) for more help. They can be contacted on 01772 522972 or by email. They should be able to help, if you need any further advice.
