"EPU"

About: Lister Hospital

Had a terrible experience at the early pregnancy unit that lasted 3 months, I hope no-one else will ever have to go through. After going to A&E several times over the course of the week and no-one paying any attention to what I was saying, I ended up with an appointment at the EPU. The staff there were efficient, but cold, considering the nature of that environment. After the scan we were harshly told what had happened and what our treatment options were. Speaking to the doctor there, I felt that I was pushed into a certain form of treatment without them really explaining things to us fully. We went ahead anyway, as we're not doctors etc ad it wasn't appropriate to wait too long. We were then given advice on when to come back for a check up. As this is regarding something we've wanted for a very long time we followed it to the letter! Only to go back for our follow up appointment and be told we had to wait 6 months instead of the 3 we were initially told and when we complained, their response was just that say 3-6 months to everyone! At no point before had they said to wait 6 months to this. When we complained, they couldn't care less, as what more could they do? It was a very, them against us sort of attitude, that left us distraught. So much so, that when the time is right, we're going to go private. It was a terrible experience and a disgusting way to treat people! At no point was I offered any sort of help for the after effects, ie couselling or help for depresson. I feel totally let down.

We are truly sorry that your experience of our early pregnancy unit has fallen short of that which you - and we – would like. We would like to put you in touch with our senior maternity team, so that they can understand more about both what happened, and how you felt, whilst you were in our care. If you’re willing to speak to them, please do get in touch with us by emailing generalenquiries.enh-tr@nhs.net and we’ll ask them to contact you.
